Marshall County swimmer Delaney Miller qualifies for State Championships

Marshall County junior swimmer Delaney Miller, qualified for the KHSAA Swimming and Diving Championships that take place February 16-18 at the Lancaster Aquatic Center at the University of Kentucky. Delaney qualified for state in both the 50 yard freestyle and 100 yard freestyle events.

At the Region 1 meet, she broke her second school record in the 100 freestyle with a time of 55.49. In December, Delaney broke a 2004 school record in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:19.85.

Girls’ preliminaries get underway on the morning of Friday, Feb. 17 with final taking place on Saturday.

The Region 1 meet was held February 3-4 at Hopkinsville High School. The top two in each event automatically qualified for the state meet followed by the next 14 best time in that event from across the state. Murray High won Region 1 titles in both the girls and boys divisions. Marshall County’s boys place sixth and the girls placed eighth.
