Lady Eagles, Eagles fall to Calloway County

Christian Fellowship played their second of two district double headers against Calloway County on Monday in Murray. In their first meeting on January 17, the Lady Eagles came up short in a 56-53 loss and on Monday, fell 60-42 to the Lady Lakers.

The Lady Lakers freshman duo of Sayler Lowe and Jaiden Koch combined for 47 of their 60 points. Lowe leading with 27 and Koch scored 20. Gracie Howard scored 16 to lead CFS while the Lady Eagles struggled from the floor at 27.7 percent.

Lowe was big on the boards for Calloway County with 17 rebounds and Koch steady at the free throw line going 10-of-11. At 6-15, the Lady Lakers three-game win streak is their best of the season so far and they improve to 3-2 in the district.

CFS is 1-4 in the district and 16-9 overall. They will look to get back in the win column with tonight’s game at Fulton City.

Calloway County boys scored 87 while holding the Eagles to 38 points in their January 17 game at CFS. Monday, the Eagles shot much better from the floor at 40.9 percent in Monday’s 70-51 loss compared to 27.9 in the first loss to the Lakers. CFS was stronger on the boards this go round, outrebounded by the Lakers 35-30 compared to 31-18 in game three weeks ago.

Eli Finley, who had 41 points for the Lakers in the first win over CFS, led again on Monday with 21 points. Andrew Dunning led CFS with 19 points followed by Elijah Grigg with 18. Dunning was 7-of-8 at the free throw line and pulled in 11 rebounds.

Calloway County improves to 20-6 and 4-1 in the 4th District. The Eagles are 5-17 and 0-6 in district play.

The Eagles will travel to Fulton City tonight in a doubleheader with the Lady Eagles.
