Marshall County sweeps Senior Night district games over CFS

Marshall County celebrated Senior Night on Friday. Another great district battle took place between the Lady Marshals and Lady Eagles on Friday at Reed Conder Gymnasium. The Lady Marshals took the win in the first of the two meetings 59-51 at CFS and completed the sweep with a 61-57 win in Friday’s Senior Night game.

Friday’s magic number was four. The Lady Marshals led 15-11 at the end of the first quarter and both teams proceeded to put up the same number of points each quarter.

Both scored 18 points in the second quarter and the Lady Marshals lead was four at 33-29 at halftime. Chevelle Henson scored 12 of the Lady Marshals second quarter points while Lillian Burnett put up 10 for the Lady Eagles.

Burnett led the Lady Eagles again in the third quarter with nine of their 12 points. Henson and Laken Schroader had five each of the Lady Marshals 12 points and the lead was four once again at 45-41.

Mia Teague hit two three pointers and a couple of free throws to lead the Lady Marshals with eight points in the fourth quarter in their four-point win. CFS equaled the Lady Marshals 16 points and were led by Burnett and Gracie Howard with five a piece.

The Lady Marshals improve to 4-0 in district games and 12-12 overall. The Lady Eagles are 1-3 in the district and 16-8 overall.

The Marshals earned a 62-20 win over the Eagles in the second half of the district double header. They improve to 3-1 in the district and 18-6 overall. CFS is still looking for a district win at 0-5 and they are 5-15 overall.

After a 13-7 lead at the end of the first quarter, the Marshals took the game firmly in hand, outscoring CFS 19-0 in the second quarter to lead 32-7 at halftime. Nine different players contributed to the scoring for the Marshals in the half while the Eagles were led by Andrew Dunning with five points.

The Marshals went on to outscore the Eagles 30-13 in the second half in the win.

Thirteen Marshals were in the scoring column, led by Chase Binkley with 10. Dunning’s eight points led the Eagles.
