Christian Fellowship’s Lady Eagles came into the First Region All “A” Classic as the #2 seed and after their 49-39 win in the quarterfinals over Ballard Memorial, advanced to the semi-finals against Carlisle County. The two teams played for the All “A” title last season that went to the Lady Comets 64-42.
The Lady Eagles have played Carlisle County twice this season coming into Thursday’s game. Winning both by scores of 74-49 and 53-46.
CFS led 10-6 at the end of the first quarter and 18-14 at halftime led by Gracie Howard with six first half points. Carlisle County outscored the Lady Eagles by four in the third quarter to tie the game up at 24 each heading into the fourth.
An 8-point effort from Jayden Jackson, who scored all but two of the Lady Eagles 10 points in the quarter, wasn’t enough to hold off Carlisle County. Led by nine points from Kiera Whitaker, the Lady Comets outscored CFS by three to earn the trip to Saturday’s championship game.
Carlisle County will play Murray who beat #1 seed Mayfield 40-36 in another upset semi-final on Thursday.
Jackson and Gracie Howard led CFS with 12 points each. Carlisle County was led by Whitaker with 15.
In Monday’s win over Ballard Memorial, the Lady Eagles were led in scoring by Howard with 25 points and Jackson with 11. Both shot well at the free throw line. Howard hitting 8-of-10 and Jackson 5-of-6.
At 12-4, CFS heads into next week with their first two 4th District games on the schedule. Tuesday they host Calloway County (1-12) and Friday play at Murray (6-7).
