Sara Byars Cothran, 75, of Murray, formerly of Benton, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Anna Mae Owen Hospice House in Murray, Kentucky.
Sara was born in Murray on August 19, 1947 to the late Loman Byars and Molly Holt Byars. She worked for many years as a clerk at the North Marshall Water District office. Sara was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church. She married the love of her life, Jim Cothran on December 11,1965 and they built a beautiful life together that many can only dream of. Sara enjoyed showing her love through her home cooked meals and baked goods, all made from scratch. She never missed an opportunity to show or tell someone how much she loved and cared for them.
She is survived by her two daughters, Cheryl Graham (Andy) of Murray, KY and Cindy Cothran (Joey Gray) of Paso Robles, California; one son, Matt Cothran (Jennifer) of Murray, KY; one sister, Shirley Nimmo of Fairdealing; and eight grandchildren, Morgan Graham, Andrea Graham, Ethan Graham (Kizzy), Samantha Cothran, Allison Murphy, Madison Garland, Seth Cothran and Aiden Cothran.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Jim Cothran; one sister, Linda Sue Smith and her parents.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Collier Funeral Home with Mark Stephens officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Springs Cemetery in Fairdealing.
Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM service time on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at the funeral home.
