On January 3, 2023, McCracken County Sheriff’s Deputies and Detectives responded to a request for assistance from two females staying at a local hotel. The females were reporting they were stranded and were trying to get back home to St. Louis. The two females were identified as being 22 year old Marlaa Jackson of St. Louis and a 15 year old JV.
As the circumstances to the two being in Paducah was being investigated, information was obtained that the Jackson often worked in the commercial sex trafficking trade. It was further verified that she had been working from the local hotel room.
The JV, although she wasn’t reported as being missing, upon speaking with her legal guardian in St. Louis it was found that she had run away the evening before.
Additional information and evidence was obtained that Jackson had also included the JV in her postings and commercial sex activities earlier in the evening.
As a result of the investigation, Jackson was arrested and charged with Human Trafficking and Sodomy 3rd Degree (Facilitation). The JV was released to her legal guardian.
This investigation is ongoing with additional suspects and charges likely in the future.
