
The Lady Marshals played three games in the Allen County-Scottsville Lady Invitational of the South Dec. 27-29. They finished 1-2, beating Northwest, TN 59-44 and the losses were to Red Boiling Springs, TN 70-31 and a 60-59 overtime loss to Owensboro.
In their first game against Red Boiling Springs, TN on Tuesday, the Lady Marshals couldn’t get anything going offensively in the first half, trailing 25-6 at halftime. Peyton Weitlauf scored their lone first quarter basket and all four second quarter points came from Chevelle Henson.
Scoring picked up in the second half but they were outscored by Red Boiling Springs 45-25 in the 70-31 loss.
They were just 1-of-7 at the free throw line and hit four 3-pointers, two each by Amelia Boone and Laken Schroader. Schroader led in scoring with 11 points. Red Boiling Springs was 14-of-19 at the line and hit four 3-pointers from four different players. They were led in scoring by Claire Fleming with 22 points.
In their other two games, Red Boiling Springs beat Franklin County, KY 67-49 and lost to South Laurel, KY 64-52.

Laken Schroader led with 19 points in Wednesday’s 59-44 win over Northwest out of Clarksville, TN. They jumped out to a big 21-11 lead at the end of the first quarter and led by 18 at halftime at 32-14. Northwest outscored them by three points in the second half but the Lady Marshals first half lead was too much to overcome.
The Lady Marshals were 6-of-18 at the free throw line and dropped in five 3-pointers, Schroader with two of them. Brooks led Northwest with 21 points and hit four 3-pointers. They were 7-of-10 at the line.
In their first game at the Invitational, Northwest fell to Franklin County 69-22.

Their final game of the Lady Invitational of the South was a battle against Owensboro. The game was tied 54-54 at the end of regulation and went into overtime where the Lady Devils outscored the Lady Marshals 6-5 to take the one point 60-59 win.
The Lady Marshals led at the end of all three quarters, 19-13 after one, 31-25 at halftime and took a 16-point lead at 48-32 at the end of the third. Owensboro went on a 17-1 run in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 49-49, going on to lead 52-49. A 3-pointer from Mia Teague tied the game up at 54 with the final possession going to Owensboro.
A pick-off by Laken Schroader was followed by a timeout by Head Coach Jimmie Holder to set up a potential final play for the win with two seconds on the clock. Unable to get a good shot off, the game went into overtime where they suffered the one-point loss.
Chevelle Henson scored 22 points for the Lady Marshals and Schroader dropped in all five of the overtime points. They were 12-of-22 at the free throw line and had five 3-pointers, two each by Henson and Teague.
Owensboro was 9-of-20 in free throws and hit seven 3-pointers led by Melia Moorman with three. In their two games before meeting the Lady Marshals, they lost 55-44 to South Laurel and beat Springfield, TN 66-41. In their final game on Friday, they lost to Greenwood 72-65.
