Today our office has received numerous reports of someone calling Calloway County residents, representing their self as Lieutenant Jake Baker from the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office and requesting money because of legal issues. Sheriff Knight and the staff of the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office will not solicit money over the phone, nor will they request money to resolve a legal issue. If you receive one of these calls, please immediately hang up and disregard it. If you have questions related to an attempt to collect money over the phone, or if you have given these solicitors money, you can speak to a Deputy Sheriff by calling 270-753-3151. The Sheriff’s Office may call you to advise you of a civil paper that needs to be served but will not solicit money from you concerning the paper.
