
Mr. Wesley Kyle Greer, age 86, of Mayfield passed away at his home on Friday, December 23, 2022, following a brief illness.
Mr. Greer grew up in Hernando, MS, where he graduated from Hernando High School in 1954. He then completed the TVA Journeyman Electrician Apprenticeship and went to work for TVA as a substation electrician. After retiring from TVA, he worked for West Kentucky Rural Electric until his retirement in 1998. He was also a member of the IBEW. After his retirement, He worked as needed for Benton Electric and served on the Mayfield Electric Board of Directors. Mr. Greer was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church and the Galilean Sunday School Class.
Mr. Greer was known for his big smile, slow southern drawl, and green thumb. He spent many hours in his garden at “The Farm” and was often seen handing produce out of the back of his truck following Thursday morning coffee at the Hall Hotel. His tomatoes were legendary. He was an avid fan of Mayfield Cardinal football and on Friday nights could be found listening to the game on his headphones, when he was no longer able to attend.
Mr. Greer was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Nancy Keeton Greer; his parents, Henry and Mae Greer of Hernando, MS; one brother, Whitley Greer; and one sister, Dorothy McLeroy.
He is survived by three children, Renee (Robert) Doyle of Murray, KY, John (Pam) Greer of Mayfield, KY and Robin (Casey) Preston of Mayfield, KY; nine grandchildren, Nathan (Jennifer) Doyle of Murray, KY, Justin Doyle of Murray, KY, Allison Doyle of Eva, TN, Jill Lewis of Union City, TN, Jennie (Lee) Goode of Mayfield, KY, Steven (Christina) Greer of Mayfield, KY and Keeton Preston of Mayfield, KY, Emma Preston of Mayfield, KY and Alex Preston of Mayfield, KY; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Don (Christine) Greer of Hernando, MS; and a special friend, Della Savage of Hernando, MS.
Graveside memorial services for Mr. Wesley Kyle Greer will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Highland Park Cemetery. Rev. Joe Hanson will officiate. Inurnment will follow.
Friends and family are asked to meet at the cemetery.
