Eagles put two in the win column at CCA Christmas Tournament

Coming into the CCA Warrior Christmas Tournament, the CFS Eagles were still looking for their first win of the season. After dropping their first game of the tournament to CCA 67-59, the Eagles won their next two games. They beat Gallatin County, Ill. 62-39 and Hickman County 67-60.

In Friday’s loss to CCA, the Eagles were led in scoring by senior Andrew Dunning with 17 points. Five made 3-pointers in the game came from freshman Jakin Burnett with two and one each by Dawson Hicks, Andrew Dunning and Elijah Grigg. Elijah Grigg had 14 rebounds.

Prince Kahnplaye scored 36 points to lead the Warriors and had 13 rebounds.

Andrew Dunning scored 19 points and had 25 rebounds in the Eagles win over Gallatin, Ill., their first of the 2022-2023 season.

Andrew Dunning’s 19 points and freshman Elijah Grigg with 18 led CFS in their first win of the season over Gallatin, Ill. (62-39) on Saturday in their second game of the Christmas Tournament. Dunning was huge on the boards with 25 rebounds and Jakin Burnett dropped in two 3-pointers.

The Eagles played their final game of the tournament on Tuesday and earned their second win of the season over Hickman County (67-60). Elijah Grigg and Andrew Dunning were once again the top scoring duo for CFS. Grigg led with 23 points and Dunning scored 20. Grigg was 3-of-5 from 3-point range while Dunning pulled in 11 rebounds. Trailing by six heading into the fourth quarter, CFS outscored the Falcons by 15 points to pull out the seven-point win.
