Henson’s 26 points leads Lady Marshals over Goreville

Chevelle Henson’s 26 points led the Lady Marshals in their 65-44 win over Goreville, Ill. on Saturday at Reed Conder Gymnasium. The junior hit four 3-pointers and kickstarted the scoring with eight points in the first quarter for a 15-7 lead.

Goreville closed the gap in the second quarter down to two points at 20-18. Goreville’s Abby Compton scoring 15 of their 18 points. Georgia Hall stepped up and scored two straight for the Lady Marshals to close out the first half on a 24-20 lead.

Two straight 3-pointers from Mia Teague opened the second half on a 10-point Lady Marshals lead. Teague hit her third three of the quarter to extend the lead to 12 points followed by a steal and basket from Izzy Washburn for a 14-point lead and they held that gap heading into the fourth quarter up 50-36.

Three of their nine made 3-pointers in the game came in the fourth quarter from Henson with two and one by JC Wells on their way to a 21-point win which evens up the Lady Marshals record at 4-4.

The Lady Marshals will host Mayfield on Tuesday then travel to Wayne County for the Lady Cardinal Christmas Classic December 21-23.
