Washburn’s 20-point night leads Lady Marshals over Murray

Izzy Washburn setting the offense up for the Lady Marshals, led in scoring with 20 points in Tuesday’s district win over Murray.

In their first district game of the season against Murray, the Lady Marshals picked up a nice 43-21 win and evened up their record to 3-3. The win marked their eighth straight win over the Lady Tigers.

Junior Izzy Washburn seemed to be in the right place at the right time all night and led the Lady Marshals with 20 points. Laken Schroader had 10 points including two 3-pointers to start the game and give the Lady Marshals a 6-4 lead, one they held the rest of the way.

The lead was 13-4 going into the second quarter and the Lady Marshals added 12 more to their total with scoring spread among six different players while holding Murray to a single field goal in the second quarter.

Their lead was 19 points heading into the second half. Washburn scored five of the Lady Marshals seven points. They held Murray to six points, Alyssa Daughrity with four of them.

Washburn had eight of the Lady Marshals fourth quarter points and Clara Boddy dropped in a 3-pointer to round out the scoring and pick up the win by 22 points.

The Lady Marshals made six 3-pointers in the game and went 5-of-10 at the free throw line.
