
Janice A. Morris, age 82, of Herrin, Illinois, formerly of Benton, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at Herrin Hospital in Herrin.
She was born on February 1, 1940 in Marshall County, Kentucky to her late parents, James and Anna Lorena Hendrickson Lassiter. Janice was of the baptist faith and enjoyed camping and the outdoors. While raising her family, she was often found making crappie jigs and catfish rigs. She loved to cook and crochet, including her own square dancing outfits and outfits for the kids. She was a beautician for a while and then went in to home health care while in Southern Illinois. Upon her return to Kentucky she worked at Hutchens until she retired.
Janice is survived by two daughters, Perneica Goodwin (Jeff) of Herrin, IL, Katrina Gallops (Mike) of Herrin, IL; one son, Robert Higgins (Kelly) of Calloway County; one brother, Chalon Lassiter (Judy) of Marshall County; eighteen grandchildren, Natasha Dianna Higgins Head, KimberLee Markie Goodwin, Danielle Nakay Goodwin, Kristin Nicole West-Higgins, Katlynn Johnelle Knight, Krashawn Micheil Knight, Michael Lynn Higgins, Christina LouAnn Higgins Smith, Christy Higgins Colson, George “Trey” O’Neal, David O’Neal, Anthony Shane Sandusky, BobbieLynn Marie Crews, James Robert Higgins, Jordan Juwayne Higgins, Matt Freeman; several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren with two more on the way.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Morris; one son, Thomas Higgins; one sister, Hilda Howard; one brother, Hailey Juwayne Lassiter; two grandchildren, Felixia Ann Higgins England, Jonathan Salas Higgins.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at Filbeck-Cann Funeral Home of Milner and Orr with Bro. Jeremy Hudgin officiating. Burial will follow in Ford Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at Filbeck-Cann Funeral Home of Milner and Orr.
