John “Rusty” Hemmer, 71 of Gilbertsville, Ky, died November 24, 2022, peacefully with his family at his bedside.
He is survived by his wife, Sharlette Hemmer; his two daughters, Jeana Kaufman (Darrow), Tanya Blair (Mike); brother Ricky Hemmer (Jill) of Bloomfield, KY : sisters, Kim Patton (Russ) of Louisville, KY, Mary Ann Brown (Ray) of Taylorsville, KY and Trish Price (Linton) of Bardstown, KY; Eight grandkids, Katelyn, Michael, Alivia, Mark, Manny, Grace, Kailey, Liam; Five great-grandkids, Jeremiah, Raygan, Owen, Emerson, Hayden, and one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, The late John Russell Hemmer and the late Ruth Ellen (Williams) Hemmer and his brother Bobby Hemmer.
Rusty was an amazing husband, daddy, and papaw. He never met a stranger and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He loved trains, his family, tinkering and repairing motors, watching Louisville basketball, and NASCAR. He was a kid at heart and still rolled around the floor with his great-grandkids. He loved the babies, and there was no limit to him fooling around, tickling, and playing. He was a jack of all trades and a master of most.
He will be sorely missed. Known by many and loved by all.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
