Connie Calvert Bray, age 71, of Barlow, passed away Friday, November 18, 2022 at Life Care Center of LaCenter.
Connie was born on October 27, 1951 to Edwin Oscar Calvert and Emma Jean Noe Tolbert Calvert in Cairo, Illinois.
Connie had several careers over the years including being a beautician for over 24 years and was a longtime cook for Betty’s Restaurant. She was a passionate quilter who loved to make quilts for family, friends and was a member of the Quilt Ministry at Faith Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member. She was a loving mother and grandmother who loved playing checkers and board games with the grandkids. She enjoyed spending time with her husband, Jackie, as they loved camping and watching Gun Smoke together. Many around Barlow remember fondly her (and Jackie’s) popcorn balls that were handed out on Halloween and how she loved having her boys and their friends over during their earlier years. Connie adored her dog, Bailey.
Connie Bray is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jackie Lee Bray of Barlow, Kentucky; two sons, Glenn Allen Bray (Jackie) of Barlow and Jamie Daniel Bray (Ashlee) of Barlow; two sisters, Sue Moreland (Sonny) of Jonesboro, Illinois and Kay Patterson (Jerry) of Sebring, Florida; five brothers, Edwin Gene Calvert of East Cape Girardeau, Illinois, David Calvert (Brenda) of Olive Branch, Illinois, Melvin Calvert (Pam) of Clinton, Kentucky, Mike Calvert of Mounds City, Illinois and Jerry Calvert (Joyce) of Cairo, Illinois; three grandchildren, Hunter Bray (Madi Williams), Avery Bray and Landree Bray.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Anna Kate Bray, her parents and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 21, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Wickliffe with Rev. Billie Prince officiating and burial in Barlow Cemetery.
Visitation for Connie Bray will be from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour of 1:00 PM Monday, November 21, 2022.
