
Mr. Terry “Gizmo” May, 69, of Calvert City passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 25, 2022.
Born in Providence, Kentucky, to Dean May and the late James May, he was a 1971 graduate of West Hopkins High School. Shortly after graduation he moved to Calvert City where he has resided to date. Prior to his battle with Alzheimer’s, Terry was a chemical operator at Air Products for over forty-five years where he was a member of the United Steelworkers Local 8-727 and served on the fire and rescue association. He was an EMT and twenty-four-year member of the PTS Volunteer Fire Department. He previously enjoyed woodworking as well as smoking meat at various community events. He was known for his witty sense of humor and joking nature. In his later years of life, he enjoyed spending time on the farm with his family and dogs.
In addition to his mother, Terry is survived by his wife of forty-one years, Helen (Downey) May; one son, Stephen May of Fairhope, Alabama; one daughter Amber (May) Morgan, husband Jay; one daughter-in-law Lindsay Dunbar of Plainfield, Indiana; one brother, Johnny May, wife Ann; and eight grandchildren, Noah May, Brooklyn May, Mason May, Cooper Dunbar, Casey Dunbar, Britteny Johnson, Ella Morgan, and Mason Morgan.
In addition to his father, Terry was preceded in death by his son, Sean Dunbar; two brothers, Benny May and Carol May; and a sister, Peggy Patterson.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and neighbors.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
