Laneata Jaycene Burke, 84, of Benton, Kentucky, was a beloved wife, mom, and Grannie. She passed from this life into heaven on Friday, October 21st, 2022, at Mercy Health-Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky.
Mrs. Burke loved the Lord, loved her family, and loved to serve the Lord. She spent many years teaching Sunday school, leading Bible studies, and playing the piano for the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J. C. and Dorothy (Lewis) Powell, two brothers, Donovan Powell and Thomas Powell; one sister, Carol Cox; two infant sons; and one adult son, Buck Hamelund.
Mrs. Burke is survived by her husband of 55 years, David P. Burke; one sister, Sue Lane of Benton, Kentucky; one brother J. C. Powell II of Sterling, Alaska; one son, Troy Hamelund, wife Patricia of Byron, Michigan, one daughter, Mary Benefiel, husband Shannon of Gallatin, Tennessee; two step-daughters, Vicki Lemm of Memphis, Tennessee, and Tammy Burke of Benton, Kentucky; one step-son, David A. Burke, wife Deloris of Lakeland, Florida; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her memorial service will be held at the Benton Church of the Nazarene, 641 East 17th Street, Benton, Kentucky, on Saturday, October 29th, 2022. Pastor Mike Wilford and Bro. Shannon Benefiel will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the service time at 1:00 p.m.
