
In one week, the Marshall County Mountain Bike team will be competing for their ninth straight state championship on Sunday, Oct. 23 at the Buffalo Lake Trials in Elizabethtown. They go into the final race with a lead over McCracken County in second and the Northern Kentucky Roots Composite team in third.
Marshall County was host to Race #3 held last weekend at the Bo Beckett Memorial Trail (BBMT) on the grounds of Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park. Thirteen teams and a total of 172 riders completed for team points and podium spots from sixth grade through varsity.
Seven riders on the Marshall County team stepped onto the podium at the end of the racing day, four of those in first place including Presleigh Jenning (Varsity Girls), Claire Austin (JV Girls), Emma Roberts (Freshman Girls) and Brady Atkins (Freshman Boys). Two second place finishes came from Chase Binkley (Varsity Boys) and Eli Rudd (Sophomore Boys). The final podium spot was a third place finish by Addison Roberts (Freshman Girls).
In team results, Marshall County finished first in points standings, McCracken County second and Hardin County-Elizabethtown Composite was third.
