Paducah, KY, October 12, 2022– The 13th Annual Ratoberfest was held Friday and Saturday at Beacon Dragway in Paducah and raised $30,000 for the Merryman House Domestic Crisis Center.
The two-day car show drew thousands of car enthusiasts, racers and spectators for what organizers said was the event’s biggest year ever. The weekend boasted a full schedule of events, from flag drags, a swap-meet, a live auction, all the way to the car show itself, which included categories from rat rods to hot rods. Organizers say if you’re proud of it, it can be shown at Ratoberfest.
“We just want to give back to the community, and we thought if we got this many people together, that surely we can do some good,” said Ratoberfest Coordinator Lo’Anne Peck.
MHDCC will use the funds to continue to offer its free and confidential services to survivors of domestic violence in the Purchase Region.
“Ratoberfest is a tangible example of what can happen when individuals want to make a difference and care enough to put in the work to make it happen,” MHDCC Executive Director, Dr. Mary Foley said. “The work of the Murt family, Lo’Anne Peck, Mark Lawrence and the entire Ratoberfest team will save lives right here in our community thanks to the money they raised. It will build lives. And it will change lives. We are so, so grateful!”
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. If you would like to get involved, please contact MHDCC at 800-585-2686.
