
To earn their sixth straight 2nd District title, the Lady Marshals defeated Murray 4-1 in Thursday’s championship game. It was the program’s 22nd in history and also their 12th consecutive win over the Lady Tigers.
The Lady Marshals remain undefeated against district opponents at 10-0 and their record improves to 15-4-2.
Less than five minutes in, Peyton Lamb got the Lady Marshals on the board off an assist from Kelsey Crass and at just over the 33-minute mark of the half, a header by Crass found the net for a 2-0 lead. Two minutes later, a free kick taken by Mia Teague made its way into the goal to give the Lady Marshals firm control with a 3-0 halftime lead.
With her second goal of the night, Lamb sealed the win 4-0 win with 10 minutes remaining in the game. Goalkeeper Parker Perry secured their ninth shutout of the season.
Five Lady Marshals were selected to the All-District Team – Kelsey Crass, Mia Teague, Anna Robertson, Abby Bevil and Johnna Walker.
The Lady Marshals will move on to next week’s Region 1 Tournament and will play St. Mary.
