Eugene O’Daniel age 90, of Paducah, KY passed away at 8:19 p.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Mercy Health Lourdes.
Gene was a long time member of Temple Baptist Church where he also served as treasurer. He was the retired owner and operator of “One Upon a Time Day Care.” Gene was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as a military policeman during the Korean War. Following his military duty he moved to Chicago and worked as a truck driver and trainer for Burny Brothers Bakery and returned to Paducah in 1981.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Joyce Hammond O’Daniel; one daughter, Janice (Steve) O’Daniel Ransom, Chicago, IL; two sons, Michael O’Daniel, Paducah and Tom O’Daniel, Cadiz, KY; eight grandchildren, Amanda (Randy) Hahn, Clystal (John) Null, Mark Ransom, Tera (Pat) McDonald, Ethan (Christine) O’Daniel, T. J. (Brianna) O’Daniel, Katey (Landan) Black, Christina (Caleb) Rohrer; nine great-grandchildren, Destiny Hahn, Austin Hahn, Lucas Hahn, Declan McDonald, Colin McDonald, Karleigh Moore, Lindsey O’Daniel, Paisley O’Daniel and Max O’Daniel; one sister, Barbara Roof of Paducah; one brother, Lawrence O’Daniel of Locust Grove, VA ; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding in death were his parents, Henry and Fannie Champion O’Daniel; one sister, Virginia Roberts; five brothers, Larry O’Daniel, Vernon O’Daniel, J.W. O’Daniel, Orville O’Daniel and Robert O’Daniel.
Services will be held Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Brian Hodge officiating. Burial will follow at the Maplelawn Park Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be held Saturday, October 8, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
