
Wendie Edmonds, 59, of Smithland, Kentucky passed away at 1:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at her residence. She was born on August 19, 1962 in Auburn, New York. Wendie was a retired school teacher from the Livingston County School District after 27 years of service. She was an active member of Smithland Second Baptist Church. Wendie received her Master’s Degree from Murray State University and was a member of the Murray State Alumni Association and the Kentucky Education Association. She loved her students and dedicated herself to them and their learning in the classroom and outside the classroom. Wendie enjoyed going to car racing events and car shows and she still owns her own very first car, a 1979 Camaro.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Gary Lynn Edmonds; son, Brodrick Edmonds and wife, Cheyenne, of Smithland, Kentucky; mother, Jeanette Kniffen Schubert of Tiline, Kentucky; sister, Vicki Ward of Tiline, Kentucky; grandson, William Edmonds; nephew, Hunter Blankenship; nieces, Te’lor Edmonds and Sylvia Fiers; great nieces, Harmony Fiers, Trinity McIntosh and Haven McIntosh; great nephew, Braxton Blankenship; mother-in-law, Rebecca Edmonds of Smithland, Kentucky; brother-in-law, Allen Edmonds and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Wendie was preceded in death by her father, Edward C. Ward.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Smithland Second Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Jennings officiating. Burial will follow at Tiline Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church.
