Claude Wayne Nimmo, 88, of Benton passed away on August 14, 2022 at Murray Calloway County Hospital.

 

Claude was born on February 27, 1934 in Marshall County, Kentucky to the late Elvis and Della Mae Egner Nimmo. He was a member of Cowboy Church. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. Claude served after high school during the Korean Conflict and was stationed overseas in England and Spain before spending most of his time at Patrick Air Force Base in Florida. After his service, he owned and operated a wholesale distribution supply company that sold irrigation equipment for over a decade. In 1991, he moved back to Kentucky to marry his wife, Mammie Jo Castleberry Nimmo. In his earlier years, he was an avid saltwater fisherman. Later in life he enjoyed woodworking and genealogy. One memory he enjoyed sharing was meeting Walt Disney during his stay at a Ramada Inn in Florida while working there part-time.

 

He is survived by his wife of almost 31 years, Mamie Jo Castleberry Nimmo; two daughters, Tammy Blackwood (Robert) of Florida and Madonna Edwards (Mike) of Benton; two sons, Kelvin Nimmo (Elizabeth) of Florida and Dale Nimmo of Florida; four grandchildren, Jennifer Braxl, Bryan Nimmo, Josh Edwards, and Sarah Edwards; nine great-grandchildren, Madison Leigh, Abigail Elizabeth, Andrew Joseph, Kaitlyn Isabelle, Katherine Jo, Elizabeth Mae, Silas Dean, Jackson Amos, Scarlett Elane; and several nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded by one sister, Norma Dean O’Bryan; and his parents.

 

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at Filbeck-Cann Funeral Home of Milner & Orr.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Kentucky Lake Cowboy Church with Bro. Chris Clarke officiating. Burial will follow at Hamlet Cemetery.
