Kentucky State Police Investigating Fatal Collision in Trigg County

NEWS RELEASE

Cadiz, KY. (July 14, 2022) – Troopers with Kentucky State Police, Post 1 are investigating a Thursday evening collision that claimed the life of a Caldwell County man. Just after 5:00 PM, Post 1 Dispatch received a call from Trigg County Dispatch advising that there was a single vehicle collision on KY 139 North (Princeton Road) and requested Kentucky State Police assistance with the investigation. Kentucky State Police, Post 1 troopers responded to the scene to investigate the collision.

Initial investigation shows Blakely L. Mitchell, 72 years old of Princeton, Kentucky was traveling north on KY 139, operating a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle exited the roadway and overturned. A witness reports having seen the vehicle weaving through traffic and brake suddenly before exiting the roadway. Mitchell was not wearing his seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle, and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Trigg County Coroner.

The investigation is ongoing by Trooper Nathan Clinkenbeard. Kentucky State Police, Post 1 was assisted on scene by Trigg County Rescue and Trigg County EMS.
