Work to cover I-24 Eastbound and Westbound 17 to 30mm
PADUCAH, KY (July 6, 2022) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans a mobile pothole patching operation along Interstate 24 in Marshall County in the early morning hours of Friday, July 8, 2022.
The mobile caravan will be working along I-24 from about the 17 mile marker near the U.S. 68 Reidland-Paducah Exit 16 Interchange extending eastward to the Tennessee River Bridge near the 30-mile marker. The crew will be working along both the eastbound and westbound lanes.
This includes parts of the I-24/I-69 Exit 25 Interchange and the U.S. 62 Calvert City Exit 27 interchange.
This mobile pothole patching crew plans to be on the road from about 3 a.m., CDT, to about 6 a.m., Friday. The early start time is to allow the work to be competed under lower traffic volume, and allow the crew to avoid the extreme daytime heat.
This mobile caravan will generally move traffic to the left-hand or passing lane to allow work mainly along the driving lane. There are some potholes that may require the crew to work in the same spot for an extended period.
Motorists should be alert for trucks with arrow boards directing traffic to shift lanes to facilitate the work. Motorists traveling I-24 should be alert for slowing and merging traffic as they approach this mobile work caravan between the 17 and 30-mile marker.
Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and maintenance personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.
