Traffic Stop Nets Two Arrests

On June 4th at approximately 3:45pm, a Deputy with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Yarbro Ln. The vehicle was a 2004 Honda motorcycle driven by Troy C. Cowart of Kevil, KY. and occupied by James G. Bates-Walls of Golconda, IL.

During the investigation, it was discovered that Cowart has a DUI suspended operator’s license and is legally prohibited from operating a vehicle on the roadway. Cowart was also found to be in possession of Marijuana and other items related to Drug Paraphernalia. Cowart is currently on Probation from a Circuit Court case in McCracken Co. where he pled guilty to possession of Methamphetamine.

The passenger, Bates-Walls, was found to be in possession of a quantity of Crystal Methamphetamine, Marijuana, and other items related to Drug Paraphernalia.

Bates-Walls was also wanted on a warrant for his arrest out of Illinois for Failing to Appear on a prior Methamphetamine related charge. This warrant was served on Bates-Walls, and he will await extradition to Illinois.

Both Cowart and Bates-Walls was arrested and lodged at the McCracken County Regional Jail.
