Some minor delays possible between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m., CDT

PADUCAH, Ky. (May 30, 2022)  A contractor for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) plans rolling roadblocks along a section of Interstate 24 near the 22 mile marker in Marshall County on Sunday morning, June 5, 2022.

Starting at approximately 8 a.m., CDT, Sunday, the contractor plans rolling roadblocks on I-24 at mile point 22.3 to allow a support line and a fiber optic line to be strung across the roadway at the site of TVA’s high voltage transmission line near the KY 1413/Patterson Ferry Road Overpass.  This is along I-24 between the U.S. 68 Reidland-Paducah Exit 16 Interchange and the I-24/I-69 Exit 25 Interchange near Calvert City.

Police will assist by slowing traffic starting about 5 miles from this crossing site.  The slowing of travel will create a gap in traffic to allow use of a helicopter to string the lines across the roadway.  The rolling roadblocks will be for both eastbound and westbound traffic.

The contractor anticipates a couple of short delays of about 5 minutes each, with all work completed in about an hour  The contractor will have multiple police units and several support trucks assisting with traffic control.

Appropriate caution is required where equipment, law enforcement officers, and maintenance personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.

The contractor will also be stringing lines across U.S. 62 during this same timeframe.  However, only a minor delay is expected for traffic on U.S. 62.

The TVA contractor anticipates this work will be completed by about 9 a.m., on Sunday, June 5.

This work is scheduled on a weather-permitting basis.
