On Sunday, May 29th 2022 at approximately 5:18 P.M., a Deputy with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office was on patrol in the Farley area of McCracken County. During his patrol, the Deputy observed a white 1998 Ford Mustang traveling at a high rate of speed on Estes Lane. The deputy slowed and began to turn around in order to conduct a traffic enforcement stop on the vehicle for the speeding violation.
Prior to the Deputy enabling his emergency equipment to conduct a traffic stop, the driver of the vehicle accelerated to an even higher rate of speed and turned onto Meacham Lane. The vehicle continued at a high rate of speed, northbound on Meacham Lane, until it reached the intersection with Alpha Drive. The vehicle lost control at this time and left the roadway, entering a residential front yard.
The vehicle collided with a utility power pole, two trees and collided with a residential structure. The vehicle overturned and came to rest after striking the front porch of the residence. The Deputy that originally observed the reckless driving was able to see the collision from a distance and after arriving at the scene, he and other Deputies attempted life-saving efforts. The operator and sole occupant of the vehicle, identified as Nicole Fyffe, 35 years old of Paducah, was unrestrained and ejected from the vehicle. Fyffe was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
The occupants of the residence were not injured and the home sustained damages as a result.
The area and roadway where this collision occurred was closed for approximately five (5) hours to facilitate the investigation, utility pole replacement and scene clean-up. The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by:
Mercy Regional Ambulance, Reidland-Farley Fire Department, McCracken County D.E.S., Stinnett’s Towing, The American Red Cross, Paducah Police Department, and McCracken County Coroner Amanda Melton.
The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office askes that you please keep the family of Nicole Fyffe in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
