Track team wraps regular season, Region 1 Class 3A meet up next

A couple of meets this past week wrapped up the regular season for the Marshall County track team and now they begin preparation for the Region 1 Class 3A meet on May 24th in Owensboro.

Last Saturday at the Apollo Invitational, the girls’ and boys’ teams combined for seven first place finishes and 19 top fives.

First place finishes came from Addison Lyles in the 3200 (12.46.84) and Rylee Thompson in long jump (32-09.50). Thompson also placed second in the long jump (16-11.20, Leah Vincek took second in the 400 (1:03.76) and Georgia Hall finished second in discus (105-06). Rounding out top three finishes, Chaney Fulton took third in discus (32-10).

The five first place finishes for the boys came from Will Davis in the 800 (1:54.99), Samuel Lanham in the 1600 (4:40.53), Kian Court in triple jump (39-05.25) and two firsts from Ben Fiser in discus (168-02) and shot (55-05.25). A couple of third place finishes were recorded by Preston Lamb in the 400 (50.93) and Jack Johnson in pole vault (11-00).

A few members of both teams competed in Tuesday’s McCracken County Quad Meet. The girls took the top four spots in shot starting with Bailey Allred with a first place throw (32-06.00), Chaney Fulton took second (30-07.50), Allysa McClain finished third (30-00.50) and fourth went to Phoebe Ramsey (29-09.00).

The throwers also took three of the top five spots in discus, led by Georgia Hall who set a new school record of 114-00, breaking her own record of 113-02. Allred finished fourth (97-07) and Fulton fifth (95-00).

Jordin Henson took first in the 100 meter hurdles (19.98) and second in the 300 meter hurdles (57.19). Madison Edwards placed second in pole vault (6-00) and Presleigh Jennings finished third in the high jump (4-08).

Two from the boys’ team competed in pole vault. Jackson Johnson took sixth and Eli Rudd finished seventh.
