Project runs from Fountain Ave to Oscar Cross Ave along Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, Park Ave, 3rd Street and 4th Street

PADUCAH, Ky. (April 26, 2022)  A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans asphalt paving along sections of U.S. 60-Business and the Interstate 24 Downtown Business Loop in Paducah starting Monday, May 2, 2022.

This paving project will run from Fountain Avenue along U.S. 60-Business and the I-24 Downtown Business Loop extending eastward to Oscar Cross Avenue.  It will include paving along the one-way sections of Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, Park Avenue, 3rd Street, and 4th Street through the Lower Town and Downtown areas of Paducah.

Residents and businesses should be aware that no on-street parking will be allowed in areas where there is active paving.  KYTC personnel will distribute flyers to alert the public to the on-street parking restrictions.

Motorists should be alert for lane restrictions along the work zone, as well as for flaggers assisting trucks entering and leaving the paving site.  Some delays are possible during the movement and placement of equipment to facilitate the work.

Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and paving personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.

Jim Smith Contracting is the prime contractor on this $1,697,492 highway improvement project.  The target completion date for paving is June 1, 2022.

This project includes the construction of Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant sidewalk connections at intersections.  That portion of the work that started in December is now completed, allowing paving to begin after the Quilt Show.
