Lane Restrictions Coming to Work Zone along U.S. 60/Clarks River Road on Paducah’s Southside Starting Monday, May 2

Work zone between Clarks River Bridge and Pugh Road

PADUCAH, Ky. (April 27, 2022)  A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans to add lane restrictions to the work zone along U.S. 60/Clarks River Road on Paducah’s Southside starting Monday, May 2, 2022.

This Highway Safety Improvement Project (HSIP) along U.S. 60 runs from the Clarks River Bridge at mile point 18.625 extending eastward to mile point 19.125 at the last crossover before the Pugh Road intersection, distance of 1/2 mile.  Planned improvements include the construction of a center turn lane.

Initial work in April has been mainly along the shoulder area with minimal lane restrictions.

Starting Monday, this work zone will be restricted to one-lane for both eastbound and westbound traffic.  All traffic will move to the right-hand or driving lane to facilitate expanding work activity along the median area.  This lane restriction is expected to be in place for approximately three weeks, weather permitting.

This work zone has a 35 mile per hour speed limit.

Approximately 18,500 vehicles travel this section of U.S. 60/Clarks River Road on Paducah’s Southside in an average day.

Jim Smith Contracting of Grand Rivers is the prime contractor on this $897,900 safety project.  The target completion date is July 15, 2022.

The contractor and KYTC District 1 will attempt to provide timely updates as the project progresses.

As a reminder, the U.S. 60/U.S. 62 Corridor on Paducah’s Southside just west of this work zone has a 45 mile per hour speed limit between the Paducah floodwall and the Clarks River Bridge.
