Marshals take Chuck Gullo Twilight Relays team title

Marshall County boys and the girls’ team from Marion, Ill. took the team wins in Friday’s Chuck Gullo Twilight Relays at Marshall County High School. The Lady Marshals team placed third.

A couple of firsts from the girls came in the 4 x 800 relay (10:32.61) and Distance Medley relay (14:18.48).

On their way to the team title, the boys placed first in 11 events including a triple for Ben Fiser who won Shot Put (56-09.50), Discus (163-06) and Javelin (121-07). Ethan McCarty won the 1600 meters (4:39.79) and Kian Court crossed in first in the 110 meter hurdles (16:64).

Six relay teams placed first – the Freshman 4 x 400 ((3:54.61), 4 x 400 (3:42.53), 4 x 800 (9:16.81), 4 x 1600 (19:45.44), 800 Sprint Medley (1:38.85) and Distance Medley (11:48.31).

Reports from the boys’ team said three school record were broken by Ben Fiser and Aiden Dunigan. There were nine top five hall of fame performances and 18 individual PR’s on Friday.

The track team will complete on Saturday in the Kirkwood Invitational in St. Louis.
