Two local men sustained injuries after a multiple-vehicle collision Thursday morning at a busy intersection.
Paducah police were called at 6:55 a.m. to the intersection of Lone Oak Road and Bleich Road for the report of a collision with injuries. Witnesses stated that a truck, driven by Carl Green, ran a red light while traveling at a high rate of speed on Lone Oak Road. Additionally, witnesses stated that another vehicle, driven by Arthur Schofield, also ran a red light while turning left onto Bleich Road from Lone Oak Road. Witnesses stated this resulted in Schofield’s vehicle colliding with Green’s truck. A third driver, Johnna Travis, stated she was turning right onto Lone Oak Road from Bleich Road under a green traffic light. Travis stated she saw the other vehicles were about to collide and applied her brakes. Green and Schofield’s vehicles then collided and subsequently bumped into the front of Travis’ vehicle.
Witnesses confirmed Travis had the right of way and both Schofield and Green went through the intersection under a red light.
Both Green and Schofield were entrapped in their vehicles and had to be freed by the Paducah Fire Department. Both drivers were transported to Mercy Health by ambulance. Schofield was later flown to and out-of-state hospital due to the nature of his injuries. Travis and the other two occupants of her vehicle were unharmed.
The roadway was shut down for approximately 1 1/2 hours while the Paducah Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Team investigated the collision.
