
Marshall County track teams started out their spring break competing in Missouri and Alabama on Saturday. Members of both teams traveled to the Jackson Invitational at Jackson High School and a few from the boys’ team were at St. Pauls Episcopal High School competing in the Mobile Challenge of Champions.
In Mobile, Cade Flatt won the 400 meters with a new school record time of 47.07 while setting the new fastest time in Kentucky. The 4 x 800 meter relay team of Ethan McCarty, Preston Lamb, Samuel Lanham and Cade Flatt took fourth and also set the new fastest time in Kentucky with 8:19.52.
Over in Jackson, a meet that was split into JV and Varsity divisions, the girls team placed ninth in Varsity and seventh in JV. Kirkwood High School swept both divisions. On the boys side, the Marshals finished 12th in Varsity and seventh in JV. Central of Cape Girardeau took first in Varsity and Kirkwood first in JV.
Top Varsity results for the girls came from Georgia Hall who took first in discus, setting a new school record with a throw of 113-02. Leah Vincek placed third in the 800 meters (2:28.29). Chaney Fulton took fourth in two events, discus (99-00) and shot put (27-10.75). Rylee Thompson earned a pair of seventh place finishes in long jump (15-01.25) and triple jump (30-02.25) and Mia McGregor took seventh in the 400 meters (1:08.23).
The 4 x 100 relay team took fifth (55.50) with members Clara Boddy, Laken Schroader, Rylee Thompson and Gracie Gideon. The 4 x 200 relay placed seventh (2:01.73) with team members Hall, Gideon, Schroader and Vincek.
Top JV results came from Bailey Allred who recorded two first place finishes in discus (98-06) and shot put (30-00.75). Allie Burkeen took third in the 100 meters (14.95) and sixth in the 200 meters (31.65). Carson Bloom earned two eighth place results in the discus (66-04) and shot put (21-09.00).

Varsity top results for the boys’ team came from Talon Smothers with a first place throw in shot put (50-10.25) and Deven Bradley placed eighth in triple jump (37-05).
JV top finishes were recorded by Braden Clough with second in discus (104-07). Isaac Hodges placed second in the 200 meters (24.92) and earned two third place finishes in the 100 (12.47) and 400 meters (56.90). Eli Rudd placed seventh in the 800 meter race (2:23.94).
