On 3/24/2022 at 3:50 pm, deputies with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to an injury accident involving a JPEC utility truck in the 4800 block of Oaks Road.
On arrival, deputies located the JPEC truck on it’s passenger side, facing south. The driver, 25 year old Dylan Reed of West Paducah, was lying in the roadway and had been assisted out of the vehicle by other motorist. The motorist were attempting to apply aid to Reed’s injuries.
During the investigation, it was determined that Reed was operating a 2019 Freightliner Utility bucket truck, north bound on Oaks Road. Reed stated to the investigating deputy that an unknown vehicle was traveling south bound and had crossed the center line into Reed’s north bound lane. Reed stated he attempted to move his truck to the side of the road to avoid a head on collision, however, his vehicle dropped off the shoulder of the roadway, causing Reed to overcorrect. The utility truck then overturned on to it’s passenger side on the roadway and skid across the south bound lanes off the roadway. After leaving the roadway, the vehicle struck a large tree and came to rest.
Reed was transported to a local hospital by Mercy EMS for his injuries. JPEC crew responded to the scene to help with clean up and remove all items that were thrown from the truck. Stinnet’s Towing responded to remove the truck and DES responded to help with traffic.
The roadway was shut down for approximately 2 hours while crews investigated, cleaned up and removed the utility truck.
