3/16/2022 Wanted subject arrested after fleeing from Deputies

On March 16, 2022, at approximately 10:15 am, McCracken County Deputies responded the USPS location on Benton Road for a suspicious person. A tent had been located on the property, in a wooded area and it was unknown if anyone was inside. As Deputies approached the tent, a male exited and quickly fled through a heavy vegetated area. A perimeter was established, and McCracken K9 Oscar was utilized to track the subject. The male was eventually located hiding under a residence in the 600 block of Milliken Road. He was taken into custody without further incident.

The male refused to provide his name, but was quickly identified as Michael Benton, 40, of Paducah. It was discovered he had several active warrants for his arrest.

A search of the tent he had been in revealed a quantity of methamphetamine and marijuana.

Benton was transported to McCracken County Regional Jail.

McCracken County Deputies were assisted by Kentucky State Police and Paducah Police.

Charges :

Fleeing or evading police, 2nd degree (on foot)

Possession controlled substance 1st deg, 3rd or > offense (methamphetamine)

Drug paraphernalia – buy/possess

Possession of marijuana
