Herbert Junior Ballard, age 91, of Wickliffe, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2022 at his home in Wickliffe with family by his side.
Junior was born in Fancy Farm on January 14, 1931 to the late Mary Hobbs Payne. He was of the Baptist faith. Junior had a love for tractors and he was always buying and selling them. If he was not messing with his tractors he could be found working in the garden or watching St. Louis Cardinal baseball or UK basketball. Often during basketball season, you would hear him say, “How bout them CATS”.
Junior is survived by his wife of 16 years, Melva Cronch Ballard; three sons, Larry (Donna) Ballard of Wickliffe, Mark (Patty) Ballard of Kevil, Glen (Missy) Ballard of Wickliffe; 14 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia “Peaches” Ballard; one daughter, Cherry Gail Lee; one son, Terry Ballard; and his mom.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Wickliffe with Rev. David Henson officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until service time on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Wickliffe.
