Monday, the Lady Marshals will meet Calloway County for the third straight year in the championship game of the 4th District Tournament after Saturday’s 46-26 win over Murray to advance. Calloway County defeated Christian Fellowship 51-46 to advance to the championship. The Lady Marshals have won the previous two title games over the Lady Lakers.
With her second point of the game from the free throw line, freshman Skylar Waller scored her 1,000th career point and finished with 13. Six points by Waller, along with a 3-pointer from Jada Driver and basket each from Laken Schroader, Halle Langhi and Chevelle Henson gave the Lady Marshals a 15-0 first quarter lead.
Murray put their first points of the game on the board to start the second quarter on a basket by Brooke Darnell but the Lady Marshals lead stretched to 20-2 on Driver’s second three and free throws by Waller. A three from Waller ended the half for the Lady Marshals on a 21-point lead.
Langhi, who led the Lady Marshals with 16 points, scored eight of their 11 third quarter points to stretch the lead to 27 points and they would take the win by 20 at the final buzzer.
