Lady Marshals wrap up perfect district record with win over Calloway County

Mia Teague, in the Lady Marshals game on Tuesday against Murray, had 10 points including a couple of 3-pointers in their 52-25 win over Calloway County on Friday that wrapped up a sweep of the 4th District regular season games.

In their last four games, the Lady Marshals have outscored their opponents 231 to 82 and improve to 17-5 following wins on Friday and Saturday over Calloway County and Hickman County. They finish the district 6-0 with the #1 seed and will play Murray in the tournament which gets underway on Saturday at Calloway County.

This is the third consecutive season they have finished undefeated in district games.

Freshman Skylar Waller led the Lady Marshals with 17 points in Friday’s 52-25 win over Calloway. Waller was 5-for-6 at the free throw line and in just 17 games played, leads the state at 90 percent with 72 made of 80 attempts. As a team, the Lady Marshals rank seventh in free throws with an average of 72 percent.

Calloway kept it close in the first quarter and trailed by just one point at 10-9 but the Lady Marshals blew it open in the second to take a commanding 27-13 lead at halftime.

The lead grew to 20 points at 40-20 to close out the third quarter. Three Lady Marshals dropped in 3-pointers starting with Waller’s to open the quarter, Mia Teague and Halle Langhi. They held Calloway to five fourth quarter points and offensively saw a couple more threes from Teague and Waller while Madyson Morton finished it out with three at the line.

It was a double-double night for Langhi who finished with 11 points and 12 boards.

Jada Driver hit six 3-pointers over the first three quarter to lead the Lady Marshals with 18 points in their 53-15 win over Hickman County on Saturday. Langhi scored 15 and Waller 14 while defensively they held the Lady Falcons to a total of three field goals in the game – all 3-pointers.

The lead was 27-2 at the end of the first and 36-7 at halftime. Hickman’s lone field goal a 3-pointer by Justice Midyett.

A third quarter lead of 43-7 enforced the running clock and the Lady Marshals outscored Hickman 17-8 in the half in the 38-point win.

Their last regular season game will be played at home on Tuesday against Webster County (15-9).
