Marshall County and Christian Fellowship played the second of their two regular season district games Thursday at CFS. It was the first time since 2005 the Lady Eagles played host to the Lady Marshals.
In their first meeting on Jan. 25, the Lady Marshals won 71-28 behind 36 points from Skylar Waller and it was the freshman again who led in scoring on Thursday with 22 points to help earn the district sweep over CFS and improve their record against district opponents to 5-0.
The Lady Marshals were out to a 14-1 lead when the Lady Eagles got a much-needed boost with a 3-pointer by Jayden Jackson. A 6-0 run for Marshall stretched the lead to 16 points at 20-4. Threes from Waller and Jada Driver boosted their lead to 26-6 and it was 26-8 at the end of the quarter.
A good defensive effort from CFS in the second quarter held the Lady Marshals to eight points but offensively they were only able to come up with two points on a basket by Gracie Howard and trailed 34-10 at halftime.
The Lady Marshals went on to out-score the Lady Eagles 26 to 10 in the second half to win by forty.
Friday, the Lady Marshals will play their final regular season district game at Calloway County (8-12). The Lady Eagles will head to Paducah to play Community Christian on Friday.
