Among a field of 84 of the top eighth grade teams in the state, the North Marshall boys advanced to the Elite Eight round of the KBC Middle School State Tournament held in Lexington Feb. 4-6.
Saturday they opened the tournament with a 49-35 win over Belfry followed by a 51-28 win over West Perry. Sunday they beat Lexington Catholic 47-45 before ending their tournament run in with a 50-41 loss to Ashland. Ashland went on to finish runner-up to KBC Middle School State Champions Wayne County.
North Marshall finishes the season at 21-3 and the eighth grade players finish out their middle school career with a record of 68-4.
Team members are Kameron Brown, Brady Burkeen, Isaac Darnall, Kannon Dunn, Nolan Hurst, Houston Johnson, Maverick Simmons, Ryan Stokes, Luke Turner, Drake Fooshee, Carson Lovett, Maxson Mitchell, Kruz Powell and Brayden York. Managers are Brady Glenn and Jett Siedel. Coaches are Blake Cary, Keith Poole and Thad Buchanan.
