Christian Fellowship’s Lady Eagles will play in the program’s first-ever 1st Region All “A” Classic championship game on Saturday against Carlisle County (10-4) after defeating Mayfield 50-42 to advance.
The Lady Eagles have only two losses this season – both coming in games against Carlisle County by nine points in each. To advance to the title game, Carlisle County beat Fulton City 63-40 and Hickman County 27-23.
Gracie Howard led CFS with 15 points in the win, Lillian Burnett scored 13 points along with 10 rebounds and Jayden Jackson finished with 10 points.
Howard currently ranks seventh in the state with a 23.4 points per game average. Burnett was averaging 16 points and 11 rebounds per game coming in and now ranks 20th in the state in rebounds with 10.9 per game. As a team, CFS ranks 9th in rebounding with 38.2 per game through their first 13 games.
Six points from Burnett led CFS in the first quarter to a 12-7 lead. Jackson scored three of their five points in the second quarter and the lead was three at 17-14 at halftime. Both of Jackson’s threes came in the third quarter to help stretch the lead to four points going into the final frame.
CFS out-scored Mayfield 19-15 in the fourth quarter behind eight points from Howard to earn the eight-point win. Skylar Mandry scored five for the Lady Cardinals in the fourth and finished with 10 points. They were led by Kiya Morris with 13 points.
CFS and Carlisle County will tip off at 2:00 at Mayfield High School on Saturday.
