Christian Fellowship splits double-header against Ballard Memorial

Christian Fellowship played Ballard Memorial at home on Tuesday. In the first game of the double header, the Lady Eagles picked their eighth win of the season to improve to 8-2 overall with a 53-31 win over Ballard. The Eagles fell to the Bombers 72-60 to drop to 5-4 overall.

The Lady Eagles were led in the win by Gracie Howard with 19 points and Lillian Burnett who finished with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Ballard was led in scoring by eighth grader Kate O’Neill with 11 points.

Out to a big 19-5 lead at the end of the first quarter, they led 30-13 at halftime and 47-18 at the end of the third quarter on their way to the 22-point win.

The Lady Eagles will play at home against Fulton City (1-7) on Jan. 4 at 6:00.

Eighth grader Elijah Grigg led CFS with 21 points against Ballard Memorial, Isaac Hovekamp had 17 and Andrew Dunning 15 – but it wasn’t enough to top the Bombers in the Eagles 12-point loss.

Down 16-9 at the end of the first quarter, both teams put up 15 second quarter points and the Bombers held a seven-point lead at halftime. They out-scored CFS by six points in the third quarter to lead 45-32 and held on to win 72-60.

Freshman Jace Birney led the Bombers with 23 points and was 4-of-6 in 3-point attempts.

The Eagles will host Fulton City (2-5) on Jan. 4 at 7:30.
