Andrew Dunning was 12 points away from his 1,000th career point when Christian Fellowship took the floor against Dresden, Tenn. in the championship game of the CCA Warrior Christmas Tournament.
He reached that plateau by scoring the first 15 points of the game for the Eagles, hitting a 3-pointer in the first quarter to put him over the mark. Play was stopped briefly to recognize Dunning’s achievement and allow Head Coach Tyler Ryan to give him the game ball.
“He’s a very talented player”, Ryan said. “He can do a little bit of everything . Being a junior and getting in the 1,000-point club is pretty impressive. I’m very, very proud of him. Obviously, that’s not the only thing he’s after this year but it’s a good start. Get it early in the year then it’s off your mind and you can play basketball.”
