Shay Glover Selected as a Public Health Leadership Institute Fellow with the Region IV Public Health Training Center at Emory University

Benton, KY – Shay Glover, Marshall County Health Program Specialist has been chosen as a member of the Region IV Public Health Training Center at Emory University’s 2021-2022 Public Health Leadership Institute (PHLI) cohort. Mrs. Glover competed with 110 other applicants to become one of three PHLI fellows from Kentucky.

All 26 PHLI fellows are employed by state and local public health departments or tribal organizations in the Southeast, where they manage programs, supervise staff and/or demonstrate leadership potential. The Region IV Public Health Training Center Sr. Program Associate/Regional Coordinator, Tamira M. Moon, stated This year’s third cohort represents an exclusive collective of public health movers and shakers from the eight Southeastern states that comprise HHS Region IV.”

The Region IV Public Health Training Center at Emory University launched the PHLI in partnership with the J.W. Fanning Institute for Leadership Development at the University of Georgia to advance adaptive and strategic leadership skills among public health professionals. The Institute is an 8-month experience providing 40 contact hours of online and in-person interaction and peer consultation. Applications for the 2022-2023 cohort will be accepted in mid-2022.

Funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), the Region IV Public Health Training Center works to build the capacity of the public health workforce to meet national, state, and local needs. The Region IV Public Health Training Center is one of ten regional HRSA-funded training centers throughout the U.S. and a member of the national Public Health Learning Network.
