Betty Jo Cates Garrett, 93

Betty Jo Cates Garrett went to be with her Lord on Friday, October 1, 2021. She was a devoted mother, daughter, wife, sister and her favorite, “Grandma Betty” to her 3 Grandchildren.

Betty was known by many through her work as a bank teller. She started work at 16 years old at Peoples Bank in Paducah and retired at 57 when she retired from Union Planters Bank.

Betty was born March 13, 1928 in Paducah to Claude C. and Maude Rust Cates. She was a devout lifetime member at Broadway Church of Christ where she sang in a ladies group for life events and celebrations with her sisters in Christ.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert H. Garrett, her parents, four sisters, Laverne Harrison, Marjorie Morton, Mable Thornton and Winona Wilson and her two brothers, William (Bill) Cates and C.C. Cates.

She leaves her devoted children, Alan Garrett of Lexington, KY, Robert Garrett (Sheila) of Reidland, KY, Pamela Garrett of Gilbertsville, KY and Rodney Garrett (Shannon) of Nashville, TN; her grandchildren, Lindsey Wells of Morganfield, KY, James Giovengo of Paducah and Matthew Giovengo of Jarvisburg, NC and several nieces and nephews.

Betty had many wonderful friends. She loved her Lord, her husband, family and friends. She will be remembered honorably and truly missed.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 4, 2021 at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Mr. Dan Owen officiating.

There will be no public visitation.
