Dorothy Louise Stewart Saxon was born November 3, 1920 near Water Valley, Kentucky to William Arthur and Bessie Barber Stewart. She was their only daughter of five children. Her brothers were Charlie, Everett, Lee, and Joe Stewart.
After graduating from Beelerton High School, she attended Draughn’s Business College in Paducah. Her first job after graduation was at the Bank of Water Valley. In 1940 she met and married the late William Ned Saxon of Pryorsburg. They were the parents of three daughters: Sharlotte Saxon Kelley, Nedra Nall Shemwell (Thomas), and Patricia Morris (Larry Joe), and grandparents to six grandchildren: Todd Nall (Mylette), Chris Nall (deceased), Kellie Morris Wilferd (Scott), Natalie Morris Morgan (Brian), Tyler Saxon Morris (deceased), and Klinton Kelley (Kristen), and great grandparents to: Madison Wilferd, Preston Wilferd (Lindsey), and Macie Morgan. Her husband William Ned Saxon passed away shortly after their 50th wedding anniversary in 1991.
Louise was the second employee hired by President Howard Shaw when Liberty Savings Bank was chartered and worked as a teller before becoming the new accounts liaison. Louise ultimately retired as assistant Vice President of the bank after 27 years of employment from 1956 to 1983.
Louise dearly loved her church family and First United Methodist Church where she was an active member since 1982. She was a devout, faith-filled Christian woman that had an impact and influence on everyone she met. A more perfect wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, or friend there could never be.
From horse-drawn buggies, to automobiles, to trains, to airplanes, to spaceships, and astronauts landing on the moon, Louise lived a lifetime of amazing changes. She saw many friends come and go through the years but her best friend was, is, and will always be Jesus Christ. Her favorite saying was, “His truth is marching on!”
