Master Gardener Barbara Ray joined us recently on WCBL’s Coffee Call program. Ray says one thing to watch out for right now is pests in your garden. The hot weather is a time when they are looking for moisture in plants. And even though this week is mild for August, Ray reminds us that the dog days of summer will be here soon, which is always a tough time for gardeners. She says to make sure your plants get plenty of water by using sprinklers, soaker hoses and other tools. She says gardening is very popular right now, due in part to the fact that people have had to spend more time at home. And Ray says one thing you can do is save your seeds from your vegetable plants and grow your own plants next season.
