GRAND RIVERS – The ‘Pinta’, a replica of one of Christopher Columbus’ famous ships, opened in Grand Rivers on May 21.
The ship will be docked at Green Turtle Bay Resort until her departure June 1.
The original ‘Pinta’, a caravel, was launched in Brazil and was used by Columbus to sight land in the New World in 1492. Historians consider the caravel the Space Shuttle of the fifteenth century.
The Pinta replica tours as a sailing museum. While in port, the general public is invited to board the ship for a self-guided tour.
The ship will be open every day, May 21-31, from 10 to 5. No reservations are necessary.
Admission charges are $6.50 for adults, $6 for seniors, and $5.50 for students 5 – 16. Children 4 and under are free.
