Edna George, 90

Edna (Jane) George, of Bardwell, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.

Mrs. George lived in Bardwell her entire life and was a faithful member of Mississippi Baptist Church. She worked at Deena Lamp Company for many years, but her most important role was being a mama and grandmama. She will always be remembered for selflessly taking care of everyone. Whether babysitting, cooking Sunday dinner, or helping family and friends when they needed it most, she was admired and loved by all who were privileged to know her. She also enjoyed watching UK Wildcat basketball and taking trips with her children.

Mrs. George is survived by her daughter, Beverly George of Wickliffe and her son, Billy Tyler (Celeste) of Greer, South Carolina. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren: Christopher (Jen) George, Heather (Tim) Brown, Caron (Michael) Amend, Miranda (Bryan) Wilson, Holly (Stan) Siemionko, Kelli (Will) Kirksey, Derek (Jessica) McNeill, Haley (Josh) Fox, and Kati (Wes) Carter. And she was a beloved great-grandmother to David, Evan, Andy, and Emma George; Hunter and Logan Brown; Michael Jr. and Matt Amend; CJ and Parker Wilson; Will, Josh, and Alli Siemionko; Layla, George, Ella Rose, and “Little” Will Kirksey; Braden Nichols, Chael and Sadie Fox; and Reed Carter, with her twentieth great-grandchild arriving in June.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty-eight years Bill, her daughter Cindy McNeill, and her brother Leland.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 3rd, 2021, at Mississippi Baptist Church.  Immediately following the visitation, funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM with Dr. Chris George and Brother Shane Davenport officiating. Graveside service will follow at the Old Bardwell Cemetery.  Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell is in charge of arrangements.
